Travis Kelce has been advised to expect criticism of Taylor Swift when the Kansas City Chiefs take the field next to play the Minnesota Vikings

EAGAN, MINNESOTA: NFL star Byron Murphy, who is scheduled to face Travis Kelce this coming week, has threatened to use Kelce's rumored romance with Taylor Swift as trash talk.

The topic came up on Monday, October 2, in the locker room of the Minnesota Vikings, who will host the Chiefs on October 8 at US Bank Stadium, along with Swift's friend and tight end Travis Kelce. Murphy Jr, a cornerback with the Vikings, thought that would be "cool," but perhaps not for Kelce.

As per ESPN, Murphy responded to a question regarding the action: "Oh man, the social media is going crazy. And I'm not hating against it. That's the world we're living in."

"Is she going to come to this game? We're locked in, but that would be something. I've been watching her since I was a kid. That would be cool, for sure," he said.

"Not for him, because we're going to try to get our hands on him in front of her," the Vikings cornerback added.

Murphy, who said he had never attended a Swift concert, continued, "I'm going to say something to him to get him going."

There is no guarantee Swift will be present when Kelce and the Chiefs play another away game next week. Kelce and the team have to travel to Minnesota this time to compete against the Vikings at US Bank Stadium.

Swift attended the previous two Kansas City Chiefs matches to support Kelce with his mother. She witnessed the Chiefs' 23-20 Sunday Night Football victory at MetLife Stadium as they held off a valiant effort from the New York Jets, per The Mirror.

Internet slams Byron Murphy for his evil threat to Travis Kelce

X (formerly Twitter) user JPAFootball took to the social media platform to reveal Murphy's evil plan against Kelce, resulting in other X users slamming the Vikings cornerback.

JPAFootball (username: @jasrifootball) tweeted on X: "𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: #Vikings CB Byron Murphy is planning to trash talk Travis Kelce in their game Sunday with stuff related to Taylor Swift, he told @SeifertESPN."

Slamming Murphy, one X user replied, "Damn he gonna get us cooked, kelce prolly going for 209 yards."

"Why say this before hand? No element of surprise," joked a second X user.

A third user chimed in, "That might motivate kelce and make him even more dangerous."

"Yes. All 5’11” 180 pounds of you - smart idea going after the GOAT," snarked another.

AN X user suggested, "Just play the game on the field and don't worry about distractions in the stands of who or who may not be there watching."

"He’s getting a flag 1st play for bringing her up, NFL won’t allow it, ask the Jets," blasted another.

One more mocked and wrote, "Goodluck with that. The 1-3 Vikings plan to trash talk Kelce off his game."

Another X user asked Murphy to be quiet and exclaimed, "Murphy, hush up! If she attends, it will be to see her Superbowl winning BF light y'all up!"

Someone else seethed, "Putting more attention on another man’s relationship rather than preparing for the game? Seems like a recipe for a Viking loss."

Vikings are 1-3 and Chiefs are 3-1 after first win of the season

Kelce's performance was not particularly impressive against the Jets. His backup tight end, Noah Gray, found the end zone for the Chiefs, and tight end CJ Uzomah of the Jets caught their first touchdown, upstaging him after scoring a touchdown the previous week.

Swift's participation has received full backing from the NFL, and by Monday afternoon, its main account on X showed three images of her supporting the Chiefs in New York.

NBC Sports reported that with an average of 27 million TV viewers, the game was the most-watched Sunday program since the Super Bowl.

In addition to an estimated rise of more than 2 million female viewers, teen girl viewers of Sunday Night Football increased by 53% from the season-to-date average.

After winning their first game of the year against the Carolina Panthers on October 1, the Vikings are now 1-3 and the Chiefs are 3-1.
