Dion admitted that as a child growing up in Canada she was nowhere near as calm as she is now

QUEBEC, CANADA: Celine Dion has overcome many hardships in her life and cemented her legacy as one of the best singers of all time. The "Queen of Power Ballads" who is diagnosed with a rare condition called stiff person syndrome, a disease which has no specific treatment, appeared in a video for a Quebec-based charity, Fondation Jasmin Roy, where she revealed that she was not a cool kid and was bullied when young.

In the French video, the 45-year-old singer spoke about how she suffered in her youth in her native language, "Because I myself was a victim of bullying at school, I can understand the distress that young people go through."

Celine was not calm growing up as a child

In 2013, Dion admitted that as a child growing up in Canada, she was nowhere near as calm as she is now. "I was definitely not very good at school. I was not the cool dude, I was not good looking, I was feeling awkward," she said according to ContactMusic. "It was hard, my teeth were all crooked and we were poor a little bit so the clothes were passed on from my brothers to my sisters, to me."

Dion was a victim of bullying

The 'My Heart Will Go On' singer, who is a mother of three now, revealed that she was a victim of bullying while she was in school. She and her late husband, René Angélil, share three sons together: René-Charles, 22, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 11. "As a mother, I can also understand the despair of parents who can no longer see light in their child's eyes, or joy in their child's heart, because they have no friends at school," Dion says in the video.

Celine Dion may never tour again

Meaww previously reported that the 55-year-old will likely never tour again due to her deteriorating health condition. The singer was diagnosed with the syndrome in December 2022 and is currently suffering from severe spasms that prevent her from performing. According to RadarOnline, sources said that Dion "can barely move." She previously revealed that she has been working hard to gain back her strength after she was diagnosed with the nerve disease. The source close to her situation said, "Celine is in an enormous amount of pain. She has the best medical team money can buy but things aren’t looking good."

"Her disease is incurable. And as hard she’s worked at it with doctors and therapists, she simply isn’t getting better," the source added. After selling off Dion's Las Vegas mansion which is worth $30 million, she is returning back to her native home in Canada. "Celine has 11 brothers and sisters living in Canada. It’s an amazing, loving support system for her during a time of personal crisis," said the source.
