Spoilers for ‘City on Fire’ Episode 4 ‘Land of a Thousand Dances’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Apple TV+ has hit some great strides in 2023 with a plethora of unique, gripping, and oftentimes binge-worthy shows. From ‘Shrinking’ to ‘Silo’ this streaming platform has hit the nail perfectly on how to get the viewers excited. Although, could they have possibly dropped the ball with ‘City on Fire’? This city-wide crime series starring Chase Sui Wonders is lacking uniqueness, and four episodes in, very little progress has been made.

‘City on Fire’ Episode 4 has several moving parts, but William Hamilton Sweeney stands out from the crowd of characters. Although William is a narcissistic drug addict, he is intrigued by Samantha Yeung’s case and is ready to dive into it. This subplot might just be the saving grace of ‘City on Fire’ for the next few episodes at least!

William takes charge

‘City on Fire’ has a lot going on for it, constantly. So viewers will have to pick and choose the most intriguing subplot to focus on from time to time, and right now, William has presented himself with something worthwhile, in an otherwise lackluster series. He is desperate for a little cash, and ends up getting arrested for prostitution, which adds to his already twisted and weird personality. After a little chase, William lands up at the station, but instead of being prosecuted for his crime, he ends up helping the cops.

William has a hunch about Samantha Yeung, who was shot on the Fourth of July, and he simply can’t seem to shake it off. He knows that she was involved with his ex-band in some capacity, especially with Nicky Chaos, whom William has a complex relationship with. It took the cops a while to get any leads or clues on Samantha’s case, but with William’s help, they were able to make some progress. In addition to this, William has taken it upon himself to try and find out who was behind this shooting, even though ideally, he should be in rehab right out about now.

Could this be the tipping point for William and Mercer?

Of course, Mercer comes to bail his boyfriend, William. However, what ensues is yet another hurdle in their already complicated relationship which seems to be on the brink of collapsing. After this incident, Mercer seems more disappointed than ever with William, unable to understand his need to figure out Samantha’s case.

However, if you have caught up with the first three episodes of ‘City of Fire’ you already know there is no reasoning with William. Will he abandon his relationship with Mercer to find out who shot Samantha, or will he clean up his act and fix everything he has done wrong?

You can stream ‘City on Fire’ Episode 4 on Apple TV+ from May 19, 2023.
