LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Before her tragic suicide, Coco Lee shared a poignant final post about her overwhelming and challenging life. The renowned 48-year-old singer-songwriter, known for her powerful rendition of "Reflection" from Disney's 'Mulan', lost her battle with depression, according to a statement released by her sisters Carol and Nancy Lee.
Coco, a Chinese-American star, had been candid with her fans on social media about her mental and physical struggles. In her last Instagram post, she expressed her need to adopt the mindset of a "female warrior" to conquer the difficulties she faced. On New Year's Eve, she shared a series of images reflecting on an incredibly difficult year, including her ongoing leg issues.
Lee’s last post
Lee wrote, "Life seemed unbearable at times but I adapted the attitude of a 'female warrior' to face them head-on, fearlessly but always had the biggest smile and big fat laughter! Strength, courage, and bravery is within all of us, so use them".
In that final post, the celebrated singer expressed her intention for the upcoming year: to share her life story and how she tackled significant, life-altering obstacles while maintaining a positive outlook. In her profound message, the iconic Hong Kong artist concluded by inspiring her fans to find inspiration in her own story.

The post has received an outpouring of tributes from devastated fans who had been following her journey closely. It was in March when Coco Lee first disclosed the gravity of her condition to her supporters, sharing a video clip that showcased her transformation before and after surgery.
While one user wrote, “Rest well Coco, you’re my childhood memory. I grew up with your songs”, another commented, “COCO!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 praying you’re in heaven with Jesus now. RIP ❤️”.
