LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Aaron Spears, a Grammy-nominated drummer for 'Usher' who last toured with Ariana Grande has died at the age of 47.

His wife Jessica broke the news on his Instagram but did not mention the reason for his death.

As the news of Spears' death spread, Ariana Grande and other celebrities honored him on social media, recalling him as a 'skilled and kind person.'

Aaron Spears’ wife Jessica posts a heartbreaking message on social media

Jessica, who tied the knot with Aaron 11 years ago and shares a son named August with him, posted a heartbreaking message on her Instagram.

She wrote, "It is with a heavy heart and overwhelming sadness that I share the news of the passing of my beloved husband, Aaron Spears."

She added, "Aaron was not only an incredibly accomplished drummer and was admired by many for his unparalleled talent and passion for music, but he was also a devoted father to our precious son, August."

Jessica continued, "His love, guidance, and warmth were the pillars of our family, and his absence leaves a void that words cannot describe."

"We are blessed to have him in our lives, his legacy will live on through the beautiful rhythms he created and the love he shared with us," she concluded.

Ariana Grande pays a tribute to Aaron Spears

Ariana Grande, who had Aaron as her drummer since 2013, commented on Jessica’s post, expressing her sympathy.

She wrote, "Heartbroken. My condolences to you all. I love you guys and I am so sorry. My heart is with you."

The 'Break Free' singer also posted a story on her Instagram account where she shared a photo of Aaron.

"I can’t wrap my head around this. We were all so incredibly lucky to know Aaron. The absolute brightest light of a human being," she wrote alongside his photo.

"Always the kindest, always smiling, I am so honored and thankful that our paths crossed and to have spent so much very special time together," she further wrote.

"Thank you for your utter brilliance, for our laughs, and for your kindness always. I will miss your hugs. You are so, so loved and will be so very missed," she added.

Aaron Spears rose to fame as a talented drummer

Aaron Spears grew up in Washington, DC, as per Music Radar where he gained a real-world education in drumming from a young age via his church attendance.

After joining DC-based Gideon Band, Spears’ talent caught the attention of Valdez Brantley, the musical director for R'n'B star Usher.

Aaron Spears was nominated for a Grammy in 2004 for his work on Usher's record-breaking album 'Confessions.'

Spears toured with Lil Wayne, Carrie Underwood, Usher, Jordin Sparks, Chaka Khan, Adam Lambert, Mary Mary, The Backstreet Boys, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and Britney Spears.

In 2017, Spears was the drummer for Ariana Grande on her Dangerous Woman tour which included the tragic show on May 22 when the Manchester bombing occurred.

Aaron Spears celebrated his birthday, just a few days ago on October 26. "My heart is filled with more gratitude and I’m more focused on the things that are most important," he wrote in a post on Instagram at the time.

He added, "I love and appreciate each of you for your kindness towards me, my gift, and also to my family…This has honestly been one of the best years of my life."
