She sought relief, thinking it was a typical issue like a bulging or ruptured disc, but was faced with uncertainty and sadness when it turned out to be a life-threatening infection.
'Selling Sunset' star Amanza Smith shocked her fans by revealing her osteomyelitis diagnosis after suffering excruciating back pain. In a heartbreaking post, she shares that she spent 10 days in the hospital and had to undergo surgery to fight the infection that had spread throughout her body. The Oppenheim Group offered her support and good wishes for her recovery.
Why was Amanza Smith rushed to hospital?
Amanza was admitted to Cedar Sinai Hospital after suffering from severe back pain for over a month. Initially suspecting a herniated disk, she sought medical attention but was left in distress. However, after an MRI exam and a CT scan, she was referred to Cedar Sinai, where tests revealed a blood infection that had spread to the bones of her spine and was diagnosed as osteomyelitis. Amanza expressed gratitude for the excellent care she received at the renowned hospital and praised the doctors and nurses for their diligent efforts to find the cause of her pain. Antibiotic treatment was initiated to fight the blood infection and reduce the infection in her spine, which had initially been thought to be a tumor. Unfortunately, the infection persisted despite ten days of intravenous antibiotics. As a result, Amanza is now scheduled to have surgery to remove the infected portions of her spine. Although she continues to experience pain, she hopes the surgical procedure, along with continued intravenous antibiotics, will relieve her suffering and eliminate the remaining infection. Amanza expressed her gratitude for the care she received from the medical team at Cedar Sinai and remains optimistic about her recovery.
The Oppenheim Group wishes Amanza Smith a 'speedy recovery'
In the latest three Instagram posts, she shared about her illness and recovery. In one of her posts, she talks about 'going forward' and not giving up although, in the thumbnail of that video Brett and Jason Oppenheim can be seen visiting her in the hospital. In the next post from 'Selling the OC' cast members, Alexandra Ducoulombier said, "praying for your complete recovery!" Kayla Cardona commented, "You’re so strong Mama, sending you so much love." The 'Selling Sunset' star Nicole Young wrote a heartfelt message saying, "Strongest woman I know! I love you and yes, this too shall pass. I cannot wait to see NOT in excruciating pain." In the video she posted, Mary Fitzgerald can be seen trying to reach Amanza via a video call. Although she has yet to speak out after the heated argument between Chrishell Stause and Amanza, other team members were quick to respond and wish her a speedy recovery.
