Mikey Day talks about 'SNL's sketch that didn't make it past the table

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: When it comes to Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, they are best known for being open about their relationship, outside the bedroom, and sometimes inside too. Oftentimes on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ and other talk shows both co-hosts have taken the liberty to talk about each other in what could be marked NSFW content. Of course, they never cross a line, but it’s always sensual with Kelly and Mark!

Recently, Mikey Day made an appearance on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ and he was ready to dish some 'SNL' secrets, especially those about Kelly and Mark. SNL doesn’t hold back when it comes to their sketches, and every time, they are ready to take it up a notch. But, were Kelly and Mark too sexy for 'SNL’s sketch? Day reveals all!

Day once wrote a sketch about Mark and Kelly

As Mark, Kelly, and Day discussed 'SNL', Day revealed that back when the live show was ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’ he had written a sketch about the show. Day would play Ryan Seacrest, Heidi Garner would have taken over the role of Kelly, and the legendary Adam Driver would also have made a guest appearance as Michael Gelman, who often makes an appearance on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ and is a hoot and a half! So, Day had the entire sketch laid out, one which would include Kelly dishing out bedroom secrets about her and Mark to Seacrest on their show. However, this sketch didn’t actually make the cut and appear on 'SNL'.

Too hot to handle?

Day mentioned a very specific part of the 'SNL' sketch that was the kicker. Garner, who was set to play Kelly would say, “Well, Mark and I went to Turks and Caicos,” and Day as Seacrest would respond, “How was it?” And the punchline, or in this case, the too-hot-to-handle-for 'SNL' line was, “I don’t know. We didn’t leave the hotel room. Mark had me in there the whole time. He’s insatiable.” Sadly, this sketch didn’t make it past the table read.

Of course, a disappointed Kelly asked Day about it, to which he responded, “It’s hard to make fun of beautiful, smart, intelligent people” in addition to reassuring Kelly that Lorne Michaels, the creator of 'SNL' had absolutely nothing against the couple. Mark and Kelly are no strangers when it comes to PDA and talking about their personal lives, even if that means sharing NSFW secrets from time to time, but it looks like they were simply too sexy for 'SNL'! For the sake of 'SNL' and ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’s rating, we hope 'SNL' reconsiders the sketch in the future.
