Mark Consuelos said, 'This is live television, so it definitely feels like you're on sort of a tightrope'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After Ryan Seacrest left the formerly named show, ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’ which then turned into ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ the viewership has seen a rise. While everyone adores Kelly Ripa and considers her a crucial part of the show, Mark Consuelos brings a different kind of charm to the table, and we aren’t just talking about the ‘Riverdale’ alum’s good looks here.

If there’s one thing Mark is infamously known for when it comes to ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ it is the blunders and mistakes that he’s a part of it. More often than not, Mark is making errors, Kelly is correcting them, and the audience always has a blast with it. However, are these mishaps genuine or a part of the package when it comes to ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’? Mark has some answers!

‘It’s packaged that way’

Mark sat with The Sun for an exclusive interview where he speaks about live TV, in particular his show ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ which he co-hosts with his wife. In the interview, Mark says, "Even when Live is recorded, we shoot it live. It's packaged that way. Michael Gelman says it's part of the charm of the show.” In the same interview, Mark recalls his previous experiences in front of a camera, which were more often reading scripts and memorizing lines, followed by some exceptional delivering, but of course, that isn’t the case with the live show. "As an actor, when you mess up, they go back and say, 'Alright, let's do it again,' and you can do that as many times as you need until they get it right," Mark said. “This is live television, so it definitely feels like you're on sort of a tightrope and you're walking in each and every day, and that's a challenge I love," he told The Sun.

'You better watch what side you're taking'

‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ has witnessed several blunders and mishaps from Mark, and Kelly correcting them. Usually, they earn a laugh from the audience, but these mishaps also put them in the limelight. Whether it’s his own show, or whether Mark is talking on another talking show, he does have difficulty withholding the blunders. In an interview with People, Mark also admitted that his daughter, Lola, often advises him to be careful about live TV, for example, during the ‘Scandoval’ episode, Lola texted him saying, “You better watch what side you're taking because it could be very bad for you.” Looks like Mark needs to tell his well-wishers that it is all part of the package!
