The cast of ABC's sitcom 'Modern Family' reunited for the first time since the show ended in 2020 on Wednesday, but fans noted the absence of one favorite actor

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Modern Family’ is an American sitcom television series, created by Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan for ABC, which ran for 11 seasons; from September 23, 2009, to April 8, 2020.

The cast members of the hugely successful sitcom have just had their reunion, and fans of the show cannot keep calm on the Internet.

‘Modern Family’ star Sofia Vergara shared some adorable snaps from their reunion on her Instagram profile on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

One notable star was missing from the cast’s ‘first’ reunion

The 51-year-old actress, who played the character of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the beloved sitcom, shared a bunch of photos from their “first” reunion since the completion of the show in 2020.

“First Modern Family Reunion!" Sofia wrote in the caption.

However, the recent reunion of the popular show has left fans disappointed as they noticed that one of the crucial actors was missing from the shared pictures, sparking rumors of the actor's death online.

Actor Ty Burrell who brought the amiable dad Phil Dunphy to life in the show, was unable to attend the reunion, which led to his absence in the pictures.

Despite this, Burrell's co-stars made sure he felt included in the reunion, with his onscreen daughter Ariel Winter holding up Ty’s photo in the big cast photo.

The entire Dunphy family, including matriarch Julie Bowen, eldest daughter Sarah Hyland, and son Nolan Gould, were present at the event.

Sofia Vergara was seen standing close to her on-screen husband Ed O'Neill and son Rico Rodriguez, and she even cozied up with Ed in another photo.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, and their on-screen daughter Aubrey Anderson-Emmons were also in attendance at the first reunion since the sitcom ended.

Ty Burrell’s absence in reunion photos fanned death rumors

People on X were quick to jump to conclusions and believed that Ty Burell aka ‘Phil’ from 'Modern Family' had died when that was not the case.

Vergara posted a video of the cast members saying that they were missing him at the reunion, which Burrell unfortunately wasn’t able to attend in person.

One X user said, “For a moment I thought Ty Burrell (Phil) had passed away since they were holding up his picture as if it were a memorial. Fortunately, he's still alive. I checked. Probably just couldn't make it to the reunion.”

Another user tweeted, “Why did i think they were at someone’s wake.”

Another X user wrote, “I checked to see if Phil had died.”

One user wrote, “GUYS PHIL ISNT DEAD HE JUST COULDNT MAKE IT.”

Another user was feeling nostalgic and wrote, “I just realised how much I missed this show.”

Another X user remarked, “Was introduced to this series during a movie night at work and I loved it.”

One user tweeted, “Iconic. Love all of them.”

One X user wrote, “They’re one great family.”
