'I’ll just say, bring extra sunscreen if you’re going. At the time, it feels fun and free. But wear extra protection, sunscreen, that is,' Jenna joked

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a recent episode of ‘Today with Hoda and Jenna’, host Jenna Bush Hager recalled her wild teenage memory from when she was 18 years old and made an NSFW remark.

Jenna Bush Hager often reveals her past instances on ‘Today’ alongside co-host Hoda Kotb. Recently during Wednesday’s episode, Jenna revealed that she once went to a nude beach in Spain and made a surprising confession during their segment on "how the speedo is making a comeback."

Jenna Bush Hager’s NSFW remark

On a recent episode of ‘Today with Hoda & Jenna’, Jenna and Kotb discussed about how the Speedo is making a comeback. Jenna mentioned that in Europe, there are a lot of nude beaches, which she experienced first-hand at the age of 18 in Spain. She said, “Some would argue it never went away, because if you go to the beaches of Europe, which I haven’t been to in a while — Speedos or no Speedos, there are a lot of nude beaches in Europe." Kotb chimed in with her own story about encountering a nude beach with her brother during a trip overseas. Jenna then admitted, “I still remember, my bother and I were young, we just traveled together after school. And it was just the two of us”. She continued, "Our parents were super strict, we couldn’t go out after 9 p.m., but they let us go overseas together. Because I think for them the world was small because they were from Egypt." Jenna further explained, “But we walked upon a little beach and we were shocked. It was embarrassing. First of all, you’re with your brother and you want to die right there. We were like, ‘What’s going on !?’ We just couldn’t believe what we were seeing." During the conversation, Kotb directly asked Jenna, "Oh my god, would you ever?" To which Jenna candidly admitted, "Yes, I've been there, done that." She then shared that she had visited a nude beach at the age of 18 while studying abroad in Spain.

Jokingly, she offered some advice to those who might consider going to a nude beach, saying, "I’ll just say, bring extra sunscreen if you’re going. At the time, it feels fun and free. But wear extra protection — sunscreen, that is — because the sun hits in parts you’ll never see”. Hoda playfully asked if Jenna was the one who instigated the trip, to which Jenna replied, "I think I was probably egged on ... No, don’t give me that look!" Hoda teased Jenna about being a "ringleader" in such situations, but Jenna clarified that it was a group decision and called the experience "wild." As a mom of three, Jenna, the author of ‘Everything Beautiful in its Time’, has embraced more modest beach attire. She now enjoys the comfort and coverage of a one-piece swimsuit while running around with her kids, Mila, Poppy, and Hal, whom she shares with her husband Henry Hager. Reflecting on her younger days, she mentioned, “That feels comfortable. And also I’m running around with other humans. I think in college and other times, I wore a two-piece”.

‘I remember feeling like I wanted to hide in it’

Earlier this year, Jenna opened up about a painful memory from her teenage years when her grandmother, Barbara Bush, made a critical comment about her body while wearing a two-piece swimsuit. The comment left her feeling self-conscious and wanting to hide. Jenna revealed, “I remember the bikini color that I was wearing; a yellow bikini color. I was laying next to my sister. And my grandmother, who I adored but had kind of a biting personality, said something like, 'Oh Jenna, looking chubby,’. I remember feeling like I wanted to hide in it." Later, Barbara Bush explained that her own mother used to say similar things to her, comparing her to her sister and emphasizing different qualities. To this, Jenna added, “Her mother always thought of her sister as the really beautiful one and would say it. 'Martha's the pretty one, you're the funny one, you're the smart one. Martha's this one, you're that one”. As a result of this experience, Jenna told Kotb, “I didn’t wear a bikini for years”.
