CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES: Twitter went into a frenzy when David Corenswet, the new Superman actor, made waves with his viral photos. The pictures showed him in tight swimming trunks, with his impressive physique on display, befitting an actor cast to play the next "Man of Steel". The 29-year-old actor, set to debut as Clark Kent in 'Superman: Legacy' in 2025, was photographed while filming a beach scene with co-star Lucy Boynton for ‘The Greatest Hits’ film.

The photographs, which date back to October 2022, show Corenswet, who has taken over from Henry Cavill, frolicking and passionately kissing his co-star in the surf. The pictures instantly drew remarks about his physique and generated humorous comments about his “manhood”.

Twitter frenzy as pics go viral

Twitter users playfully referred to him as 'big d*** Superman' and marveled at his fit body, writing, “His physique looks like he has the endurance of a mountain. I feel like if he ended up next to me at the start line of a distance race I'd just leave. Dude looks great, agreed”.

Other social media users couldn't help but make eye-popping comments about the new Superman star. One account wrote, “Oh my god, I’m pregnant”. Another Twitter user penned, “the new superman is gonna be HUGE”.

Additional remarks included, “I’m not understanding how that autonomy works, need X-ray drawing”. The viral photos certainly sparked lively conversations and added to the excitement surrounding the new Superman casting.

The new Superman

Corenswet, known for his roles in 'Look Both Ways,' 'Hollywood,' 'The Politician,' and the A24 film 'Pearl,' is taking on his first leading role in a major studio production. He will be starring opposite Rachel Brosnahan, who will portray Lois Lane in the rebooted film series, replacing Amy Adams.

Scheduled for release on July 11, 2025, 'Superman: Legacy' explores Superman's journey of balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. Corenswet and Brosnahan underwent rigorous auditions, testing for DC co-chairs Peter Safran and director James Gunn in full costume and make-up. The auditions took place over two days, with three actors donning 'full Superman attire,' concluding an extensive search for the new stars.

While British actors Tom Brittney and Nicholas Hoult were among the contenders for the Superman role, Corenswet ultimately landed the part. Phoebe Dynevor and Emma Mackey were also considered for the role of Lois but were narrowly edged out.
