Joe Jonas officially filed for divorce from Sophie Turner on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, after two children and four years of marriage

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sophie Turner reportedly faced postpartum challenges following the birth of her second child "DJ" in July 2022. The 'Game Of Thrones' actress, who has recently received support amid perceived "sexist" attacks, had been reluctant to leave her home during this period.

However, her husband Joe Jonas was reported as "less than supportive" and encouraged her to attend events, according to TMZ.

Joe Jonas was not a supportive husband, claims Sophie Turner's team

Sources indicated that Turner faced a significant lack of support from Jonas when she wanted to stay at home to avoid photos and events. Despite accompanying Jonas to some outings, she had openly expressed discomfort at one event and voiced her reluctance to attend the events.

According to TMZ, Jonas later attended a separate gathering without his wife.

Jonas had allegedly also expressed his concern that Turner was not as active and social as he would have liked her to be. Sources suggest that those close to the couple had noticed signs of strain in their relationship.

In the wake of the news of the A-list couple's divorce after four years of marriage, sources close to the pair stated that Turner "likes to party and he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles."

Multiple sources with purported "direct knowledge" of the situation have provided information portraying Jonas as taking on full-time childcare responsibilities for their children, Willa, 3, and DJ, 14 months, while on tour.

Meanwhile, Turner has been busy with her work in the UK, filming the ITVX drama 'Joan' since May where she has undergone a transformation, embracing vintage looks for her lead role as the notorious British jewel thief Joan Hannington.

Amid the numerous reports that portray Jonas as a committed father and Turner as someone who enjoys socializing, a collection of opinion columns has surfaced supporting the actress while raising questions about why Jonas is receiving accolades for fulfilling his parental responsibilities.

Joe Jonas' team accused of 'vilifying Sophie Turner'

One person wrote on Twitter and expressed their opinion on the divorce battle. They said, "Warms the cockles of my heart that Joe Jonas’s transparent attempt at smearing Sophie turner’s character is backfiring so badly. I don’t know or care about Joe or Sophie, but the world loves to vilify young mothers and it’s nice to see ppl not fall for it just this once."

Another replied to it and wrote, "What’s crazy to me is from the videos I’ve seen of him, he seems like he likes to have fun, so to say she partied too much, feels like jealousy to me."

A third user commented, "I also find it so sus that they got married when her big show ended and it was fine for the four years she barely worked, but suddenly she’s doing shows again and the marriage is over. He gives me such bad vibes."

"It’s such an obvious and transparent attack on the mother of his kids that everyone who sees it seems to automatically assume he is just the worst. I can’t see doing this unless he’s trying to get out ahead of something awful about him," someone else quipped.

A fifth wrote, "I agree… have never commented on either of them in my life (not including “Sansa” comments, I def was a game of thrones yapper) but it’s really refreshing to see this PR ploy fail… I hope we have more of this in the future. Joe, stop being nasty… deal with your divorce."

Raven Smith wrote in an article for Vogue, "Team Jonas is throwing a careless-mother narrative at proceedings and seeing if it sticks, sowing seeds of his wife being a less-than-gold-star parent."

"Nobody is saying out loud she's subpar; it's just heavily, heavily insinuated that her liking to go out clashes with his homebody status. It's very read between the lines, please, she is not mothering at an acceptable standard," the article read.

"The misogyny here is so ridiculously stark. All these motherly expectations serve only to keep women repressed," it added.

Rebecca Reid of inews said that Turner is being slammed as "society doesn't like it when women - especially mums - have fun. When we have babies we're supposed to have our ambition, sexuality, and desire to dance while listening to Flo Rida incinerated along with our placenta."

"So you can see how it would make sense for the PR team handling this divorce to get around a table and settle on 'goes out too much, doesn't spend enough time with her family' as the perfect way to vilify Turner," the article read.
