‘Show solidarity with our brother and sisters in the WGA,’ said a user, slamming Kim Kardashian

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Kardashian was snubbed by social media users for tweeting from the set of 'American Horror Story' and called it an inconsiderate move in the middle of the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. 'The Kardashians' star, who is reportedly busy shooting for Season 12 of the FX show, tweeted a post with a conversational approach. But it didn't sit well with the members and supporters of the WGA as many pointed out that the SKIMS founder was shooting while the writers were still fighting for their rights.

Kardashian took to her Twitter on n Friday, June 23, to post, "Hi guys! I'm on set of AHS and we have some time between shots. What are you all up to????" While apparently the tweet was innocuous and would set forth a flurry of conversation among her fans, this time, it wasn't widely accepted among some as they were quick to question how the shooting of 'AHS' was even going on amid the writers' strike. Some went as far as terming Kardashian as a "scab" for filming instead of showing solidarity with the writers who were on strike.

What is the present situation with the WGA strike?

The Writers Guild of America, represented by 11,500 screenplay writers, is in contention with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), negotiator for the Hollywood studios and streaming platforms, for multiple reasons. Promises of better compensation, not being replaced by Artificial Intelligence, better work environment, pensions, and health care for the writers are some of the important points of consideration in the strike. While the WGA has been striking for 50-plus days, the AMPTP and WGA have not yet reached a common ground. Several artists, including Jason Sudeikis and Nina Dobrev, joined the burgeoning list of picketing actors who are fighting for the cause of the WGA. Quite interestingly, even Kardashian's ex, Pete Davidson, joined the group.

'Scabs not welcome here'

As soon as Kardashian posted the tweet, a flurry of comments started coming in, especially from the protesters. A member of the WGA wrote directly, "Striking in support of my union," while a second protester stated, "Not crossing picket lines is what I'm up to." One resonated with the other strikers, saying, "Picketing, Kim." "Sitting at home since no work due to strike. Why is AHS still filming. Show solidarity with our brother and sisters in the wga," wrote a user detailing their distaste for 'AHS' proceeding with filming during the strike. Another user wrote, "Supporting the WGA." "Lady they're literally on strike," expressed one who wasn't clearly happy with Kardashian's post, while a user questioned her, asking, "Do you realize there is a strike happening?" "Not being a scab," vocalized a striker, and one more posted a GIF that said, "Scabs not welcome here." "they’re striking queenie storm off set," stated a disgruntled user trying to make Kardashian realize the gravity of the situation.
