The actor hinted that Logan Roy's death was staged and he returns to see how his children are doing

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brian Cox has hinted at his own concepts for a prospective 'Succession' sequel. The 76-year-old portrayed media mogul and stern father Logan Roy in the immensely popular HBO series, where his children engaged in a relentless battle for control of the company.

In the final episode, the sibling rivalry temporarily subsided as they joined forces to thwart the deal. However, Shiv's decisive vote led to GoJo acquiring Waystar, resulting in her husband Tom Wambsgans becoming the CEO instead of her, drastically altering the power dynamics within the couple.

‘I did feel a little bit rejected’

The fate of Logan was sealed in the third episode of the last season. In a pivotal moment, Conor Roy prepared to exchange vows with his fiancée Willa Ferreyra. However, before the ceremony commenced, the family received devastating news. Viewers witnessed Logan's death as he collapsed in the bathroom of a private jet en route to Sweden.

While acknowledging that Logan's death was executed in a "brilliant way," Cox revealed he initially perceived it as a form of rejection, which he now admits was a misinterpretation. "I was fine with it ultimately, but I did feel a little bit rejected. You know, I felt a little bit, oh, all the work I've done and finally I'm going to, you know, end up as an ear on the carpet of a plane," he told BBC Two's Amol Rajan.

‘The only solution is to stage his death’

The sudden demise of Logan Roy during the early stages of the ongoing season came as a surprise, casting uncertainty over the fate of his media and entertainment conglomerate, Waystar Royco. This event also triggered a shift in the power dynamics among his ambitious offspring. Brian went on to elaborate that there is a possibility of another series delving into the aftermath for the Roy siblings subsequent to the loss of their father's wealth.

"Well, if you think about it, from Logan's point of view, he has to find out how his children are going to behave when he dies, what will happen then?" he asked. "To achieve that, the only solution is to stage his death and then, at some point in the future, have him witness the ensuing chaos," Brian further explained.
