'We’ve been through so much, but I’m really happy that he’s on the mend and he’s doing well,' said Deborah Roberts

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: AI Roker's wife Deborah Roberts opened up about his health issues. "More than anything else, with his body fatigue, he just had a moment where he is sick and tired of being sick and tired," she said.

Recently, the weatherman underwent knee surgery for the second time and previously, he was hospitalized after he had blood clots in his legs and lungs. The ABC News journalist has been trying to maintain a positive outlook on her husband's health but she was still "nervous," according to Page Six.

'We’ve been through so much'

Talking about AI Roker's recovery, Roberts who is married to the weather anchor for 28 years, said, "Of course, I was a little nervous because everything is so precious right now… we’ve been through so much, but I’m really happy that he’s on the mend and he’s doing well."

The 'Lessons Learned and Cherished' author said that though she finds it uplifting to receive support from fans, she says that fame can have its downsides as people know "your business."

"One of the downfalls of fame and being on television is that everyone is in your business… it’s a little tough. But on the other hand, I’m walking around and people keep saying to me, ‘I’m thinking about Al,’ ‘I’m saying prayers for you’… ‘How’s your husband?’ More than anything else, I think it’s a nice support and it’s really uplifting to hear people’s thoughts," Roberts said.

"There are times I’m going for a jog and I am coming back and I’m having a moment to myself and someone will ask about Al, and I am like, ‘OK you took me back there.’ So yeah it comes with the territory," she added.

AI Roker's return to 'Today' show after knee surgery

On Tuesday, May 30, the weather anchor returned to the 'Today' show for the first time after the surgery on his left knee. "Look who's here! Mr Roker, we are so happy to have you back in our studio," the show's co-anchor Savannah Guthrie said and jokingly told him, "You've got a brand new knee! Does it still have that new knee smell?"

"I don't want to go there. We're putting it to use. ... It's all good, all good," responded Roker who underwent the surgery on May 9. "This one is a little more complicated because it's what they call a revision; it was a replacement of a replacement, so they had to take stuff out, put stuff in, so it was a bit of a bear," the 68-year-old TV anchor said while giving his health update in a virtual appearance on May 15 on Today. "So we've just been kind of hanging out. Chilling out, not doing anything — which I know, a lot of people find hard to believe, but in fact, that is the case," he said at the time, according to People.
