'The Brady Bunch' house was sold to former HBO chief executive Chris Albrecht's wife, Tina Trahan, and described as a 'nostalgic purchase'

LOS ANGELES , CALIFORNIA: Tina Trahan, who is married to former HBO chief executive Chris Albrecht, is the proud new owner of 'The Brady Bunch' house.

HGTV's renovated 'Brady Bunch' house, originally listed for $5.5 million, has been sold to home enthusiast Trahan for $3.2 million, marking a significant drop from its initial asking price according to Hollywoodreporter.com

Closing the deal on the iconic 'Brady Bunch' house

The property, which spent the summer on the market, recently closed escrow.

HGTV, after acquiring the house for $3.5 million in 2018 and extensively renovating it in the series 'A Very Brady Renovation', decided to list it for $5.5 million in May.

The decision to accept an offer more than $2 million below the asking price was attributed to the unique nature of the property, with no comparable homes available for reference.

Additionally, the limitations posed by laws governing short-term rentals restricted the property's potential value.

The house, built in 1959 with Late Modernist architecture, was used solely for exterior shots during the original sitcom's run from 1969 to 1974.

HGTV purchased the house in 2018 and invested an additional $1.9 million to recreate the iconic TV home seen in 'The Brady Bunch'.

The renovation process was documented in the series "A Very Brady Renovation," featuring the original Brady children and HGTV hosts Drew and Jonathan Scott.

The meticulous restoration included adding a second story to match the show's interior layout and decor, down to the smallest details like cabinet hardware.

HGTV mentioned that the house came with many of its contents, including custom pieces like the green floral living room couch and a credenza with a 3-D printed horse sculpture.

Despite the listing price being set at $5.5 million due to the extensive investment in purchase and renovation, the sale ultimately aligned with the property's estimated worth.

Property to be used for charitable functions

The new owner, Trahan, intends to utilize the property for charitable functions and as a high-end rental. Her Douglas Elliman agent stated “It was a nostalgic purchase she just had to have.”

The property was portrayed as a unique chance to purchase a house “reportedly the second most photographed home in the USA after the White House.”

"The bright orange formica kitchen counters, to the blue bunk beds and pink twin beds, and let’s not forget about the groovy attic,” read the house description when put on sale.

The buyer received representation from Marcy Roth and Fredrik Eklund of The Eklund | Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman.
