The birth of a rare rhino calf at Chester Zoo was caught on camera. A zookeeper captured rhino Zuri giving birth to an eastern black rhino on Sunday, 12 November. “So far, the pair have been inseparable and the little one is feeding regularly and already gaining in size and weight,” says Rhino team manager Emma Evison. The birth will help in preserving an endangered species. Fewer than 600 of the species are left across the African wild and are listed as critically endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Volodymyr Zelensky said he had a “very strong dialogue” with senators after his behind-closed-doors meeting on Capitol Hill on Thursday 21 September. The president of Ukraine made a trip to Washington DC this week to shore up US support for his nation. During his visit, Mr Zelensky met with the entire Senate, but only a select few House leaders attended a meeting on the other side of Capitol Hill. “We spoke about support, about the situation on the battlefield, about our class. I can’t share with you all the details, but I think we had a very strong dialogue with senators,” he told reporters.

A 22-day-old baby girl died in a strike on Kherson region in Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky said in an address on Sunday, 13 August. The Ukrainian president said that in the village of Shyroka Balka a mother and her two children - the baby girl and a boy aged 12 - were all killed. Mr Zelensky added that there were 17 reports of shelling from the Kherson region Sunday as well as in Mykolaiv Oblast, Zaporizhzhia, Donbas and Kharkiv Oblast. According to the country’s Internal Affairs Ministry a total of seven people were killed on Sunday in Kherson.

A Colorado woman broke down in tears after police bought her groceries to feed her hungry grandchildren. A deputy brought food for 71-year-old Vicki Green and her adoptive son and great-grandson after the woman’s boyfriend ate the last food in the home home as the hungry children watched. “I’m going to be here for you today and I’m gonna get you some food for your kids,” deputy Ryan Weiner explained, as Green held her hand over her heart. “I don’t want them to go hungry,” he said. “And it sounds like they didn’t eat last night and they’re not going to eat today.”
