Tenoch Huerta steps away from Netflix movie as he focuses on 'restoring' his 'reputation'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It’s no secret that a lot of superheroes and supervillains from Marvel and DC have been in trouble lately. From domestic abuse allegations to sexual assault allegations, these men have seen it all. The most recent Marvel star who has been accused of sexual abuse by Maria Elena Rios is Tenoch Huerta. Huerta’s last big appearance was in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ as Namor, but could that be his last screen appearance ever?

Marvel has a lot to consider when it comes to carrying forward with Jonathan Majors and Huerta in phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, by the looks of it, Huerta might just remove himself from the equation, saving the franchise some trouble. For now, it isn’t about Marvel, but a Netflix movie 'Fiesta En La Madriguera'.

'My focus now is simple'

Huerta has released an exclusive statement obtained by Deadline, regarding his most recent exit from a Netflix project. Huerta said, “Given the impact of the recent false statements by María Elena Ríos and the damage they have caused, I have no choice but to withdraw from participating in the film ‘Fiesta en la Madriguera.’ It is with great sadness that I do this, but I cannot allow her actions to harm not only me, but also the work of dozens of talented and hard-working people involved in the project. My focus now is simple: continue the process of restoring my reputation.”

Is Huerta’s acting career over?

Huerta has previously released a statement denying the allegations, however, no further progress had been until now. The Marvel star has chosen to step back and focus on restoring his reputation, but how long can that last? Huerta’s character ‘Namor’ was set to play an important role in phases 5 and 6 of the MCU, but only time will tell Huerta will step away from those too.
