While being married to Al, Jeanine faced issues not just in her work life but her personal life as well

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fox News viewers are used to seeing Judge Jeanine Pirro for her weekday appearances on 'The Five'. What they might not be aware of is that Jeanine's career went through a rollercoaster ride before arriving at the sets of Fox.

Jeanine was a celebrated and honored figure while working in the field of law which she eventually turned into a respectable political career.

A major shift for her was turning to TV and becoming a media personality, doing a complete upside down from her previous direction.

It was not just Jeanine's sudden interest in transitioning to show hosting duties but a significant involvement of her ex-husband, Al Pirro.

Jeanine Pirro's political career affected by husband

For most of her professional career, while being married to Al, Jeanine faced issues not just in her work life but her personal life as well.

As the Assistant District Attorney of Westchester County in New York State, while 'The Five' host gained recognition for handling cases of domestic violence, she faced major backlash for not paying the same attention to cases of corruption and organized crime.

This was further affected when her own husband got involved in a tax evasion scandal in the year 2000. His conviction and later, a 29-month-long prison sentence, seriously damaged her reputation in the state.

Much of the criticism arose because of the assumptions surrounding her personal bias towards her partner.

Jeanine's work was again affected when she was a candidate in the race for Lieutenant Gubernatorial. Al's association with the mafia caused issues in her participation as a valid candidate.

Al Pirro had asked Jeanine Pirro to switch to TV

Jeanine was initially encouraged by her husband to work for television but he did not support her running for political leadership positions.

Al had told the New York Post that “I didn’t want her to run for anything" and that the tax evasion case "probably would have been a civil adjustment if you weren’t married to a district attorney.”

Jeanine had revealed in the same interview that her husband was not happy with her career in politics. “It’s been hard on both of us and hard on our careers," she said, "For years, he’s wanted me to go on television.”

The couple got divorced after Al cheated on Jeanine multiple times after years of separation in 2013.
