NBC's 'Today' show host Dylan Dreyer embraces a gluten-free lifestyle for son Calvin's Celiac Disease prioritizing his well-being

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ Dylan Dreyer has been candid about the unique dietary choices within her family due to her son Calvin's diagnosis of Celiac Disease. Recently, she posted a series of photos providing a glimpse into their gluten-free culinary adventures.

In Dylan Dreyer’s household, food takes on a distinctive role due to Calvin's Celiac Disease diagnosis. The condition's adverse effects from gluten intake have steered Dylan Dreyer and her husband Brian Fichera toward a gluten-free household. These deliberate dietary decisions are centered around ensuring the well-being of their six-year-old son, influencing every aspect of their culinary choices, including baking. Dreyer recently shared pictures on her Instagram that show how they enjoy baking without gluten. The photos showcase gluten-free cooking adventures, which are all about supporting Calvin's health and happiness.

Dylan Dreyer’s home sacrifices

The 42-year-old Dreyer delighted her followers by sharing pictures of her successful gluten-free banana muffin baking endeavor. She followed a recipe from Instagram chef Jules Shepard and was pleasantly surprised by the delicious outcome. In an Instagram post, Dreyer mentioned her initial hesitation, but the muffins turned out "incredible" – light, fluffy, and moist. Her one-year-old son, Rusty, heartily enjoyed one in an adorable snapshot, indicating the muffins' kid-friendly appeal. The use of flour contributed to the muffins' success.

She captioned the post, “I now follow a lot of gluten-free chefs, home cooks, and bakers on Instagram. Tried out these gluten-free banana muffins courtesy of @gfjules Not gonna lie…they’re incredible! Light and fluffy, moist, and they didn’t sink when they cooled. Cal gave it a 10…and Rusty definitely agreed!! I didn’t use the muffin mix but did use her flour. Delicious!” Jules, the chef behind the recipe, expressed her joy at seeing Dreyer’s delightful results with a comment, “They look so lovely!! I'm thrilled that you put my gfJules Flour and muffin recipe to the test and got the highest marks from your expert taste testers!”

Dylan Dreyer’s gluten-free birthday

Dreyer’s NBC morning show colleagues understand her dietary requirements well, which was evident when they celebrated her recent 42nd birthday on the air. Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones, and Craig Melvin surprised her with a gluten-free cake, mindful of her son Calvin's needs, especially because Calvin was present in the studio that day. While the gesture touched her, Dreyer had already thought ahead. She shared with her co-hosts, “You know what's funny? This is so thoughtful and so sweet, and I knew Cal was coming in with me today. I brought him a gluten-free cookie, birthday cake flavored, just for him”. Roker sweetly replied, “You can save that because we've got the real deal today!”
