Tony Romo was mocked after he got carried away while discussing Dolly Parton's outfit during her halftime performance at the Dallas Cowboys game

DALLAS, TEXAS: CBS announcer Tony Romo's commentary during Dallas Cowboys games is always entertaining. But he faced backlash on social media after going too far while live-broadcasting Dolly Parton's halftime Thanksgiving show.

Dolly Parton, 77, dazzled fans on Thursday night, November 23, at the Texas team's game against the Washington Commanders in Arlington by sporting a skimpy Dallas Cowboys cheerleader attire.

Things got a little awkward when Romo discussed Parton's halftime show attire with his CBS co-host, Jim Nantz. The former expressed his opinions quite bluntly.

During the interval, the legendary singer performed some of her best-known songs, dressed as a Cowboys cheerleader.

The 77-year-old icon made a big impression at the AT&T Stadium on Thursday night with the Cowboys leading 20-10 versus Washington at halftime.

She wore a blue and white shirt and teeny shorts. Underneath that, Parton donned a mesh top covered with crystal sequins. This took place shortly after the release of her most recent album, 'Rockstar', which includes songs like 'Jolene', '9 to 5', and a rendition of Queen's 'We Are the Champions'.

The singer sang some of her greatest hits, including 'Jolene', on stage while flaunting her toned legs and lean midriff.

Parton's age-defying physique also caused a stir on social media, as fans watching the Thanksgiving game at home took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment.

One fan gushed on X, "She’s 77 and Dolly Parton just showed Madonna how it’s done."

Parton had revealed in an interview with The Guardian earlier that when she was young, she had once taken inspiration from a "town tramp" for her look. The "town tramp" was a local lady who wore short skirts and high heels.

Parton said at the time, "She was flamboyant. She had bright red lipstick, long red fingernails. She had high-heeled shoes, little floating plastic goldfish in the heels of them, short skirts, low-cut tops, and I just thought she was beautiful."

Tony Romo impressed with Dolly Parton's cheerleader outfit

Parton's incredible outfit at the Dallas Cowboys game undoubtedly drew the attention of the former Cowboys quarterback.

Barstool Sports made fun of Romo's fawning attitude by writing on X, "Dolly Parton got Tony Romo Horned up."

Romo was weirdly complimentary of Parton's attire, which is a difficult territory to go in the first place. It would be amazing if one could pull it off, preferably with a dash of sarcasm or comedy relief.

Turning his face to face Nantz in the booth, Romo began by saying, "She was wearing the... Cowboys cheerleading outfit. You saw that coming, didn't you?"

"You said, 'I think she's going to go with a little cheerleading outfit tonight', and I was like, 'wow, pretty good.' "

"What do you think we're going to see second half?" Nantz attempted to shift the topic, but Romo wasn't prepared to let it end there.

He continued, saying, "I mean, she looks amazing, right? She's wonderful. Who doesn't like Dolly Parton?"

Nantz concluded the discussion by stating, "She's absolutely an American treasure, that's for sure."

Eventually, the former quarterback for the Cowboys bit his tongue, and the topic of football took the lead.

Romo rambling on about Parton's skimpy cheerleading dress was the last thing the CBS producers could have wished for.

Fans batter but secretly agree to Tony Romo's reaction

Online fans pounced on Romo's excitement right away, with one commenting, "Romo is all in on Dolly Parton," and another said, "Dolly is hotter than Taylor Swift."

A user quipped, "Tony Romo's wife gonna whoop his a** when he gets home."

"Romo is so giddy lol," chimed in another one. One user, "Dangerously h***y."

Another one noted, "Jim Nantz trying his best to keep it the Tiffany network."

One user hilariously added, "Tony Romo was 100% this emoji the entire time," with snarky emoticons.
