Who are the Top 3 of 'American Idol' Season 21?

Iam Tongi

Tongi is one of the fans' favourite finalists. He impressed both the judges and the viewers right from his audition. Notably, his audition video went viral with over 100 million views on social media. He hails from Hawaii and started learning the ukulele in fifth grade. However, he shared that he also learned to play the piano but does not play the instrument well. He composed his first song at the age of 14. The singer-songwriter was very close to his father, who died recently. As fans recall, he was often seen with a guitar as it was a gift from his father. He had an emotional moment during an episode when his guitar broke ahead of his performance but the judges promised to repair it. This is not his first time on 'American Idol'. He had auditioned in 2022 but he did not make the cut, and then his mother signed him up for this season.

Tongi performed 'Monsters' by James Blunt for his audition, which he dedicated to his late father. The finalist bagged a spot in the Top 20 with his stellar rendition of 'The Winner Takes It All' by ABBA. He impressed viewers with 'Bring It on Home to Me' by Sam Cooke for the Top 12 spot. He performed two moving duets with his best friend, Oliver Steele.

Megan Danielle

Megan slowly worked on improving her stage presence and confidence throughout the season before she left viewers highly-impressed in the last two weeks of the competition. Although she was not sure about her music career at first and found it difficult to believe in her own talent, her falsetto and country voice helped her reach the Top 3. She was introduced to music for the first time when she was 15. She met a guitar player at a music store and asked him if he could play for her. He obliged and she sang. Soon after that, she sang in public for the first time and wrote her first song, 'Don’t Agree', when she was 17.

Megan auditioned with Lauren Daigle's song 'You Say' to advance to Hollywood Week. However, the aspiring singer received a lifetime special surprise as Lauren joined Megan and sang with her during the audition. She has consistently moved the judges with her stirring performances. Her journey on 'American Idol' was impressive as she often performs original songs. She delivered a moving rendition of 'Go Rest High on That Mountain' by Vince Gill to earn a spot in the Top 10. Additionally, her rendition of 'Head Over Feet' by Alanis Morissette for the Top 8 spot stunned viewers and judges.

Colin Stough

Colin's voice and sweet smile blew away the judges, especially Perry. He developed a love for music when he was five and asked his mother for a guitar. The aspiring singer's mother gifted him a guitar on his sixth birthday. He is a self-taught musician who learned through music lessons on YouTube and by listebing to music. He was a junior in high school when he performed for the first time in front of an audience and played three songs at a wedding. He has also done multiple gigs when he was back in his hometown. He continues on improving his songwriting skills.

Colin's 'American Idol' journey did not start on a great note as he was not very confident. He slowly worked on improving his stage presence. He had a breakout moment as he delivered a soulful rendition of Robyn's 'Dancing on My Own' and earned a spot in the Top 12. He performed 'It's Been Awhile' by Staind for Top 10 and impressed the viewers as well as the judges.

The finale episode of 'American Idol' Season 21 will air on Sunday, May 21 at 8 pm ET on ABC.
