Tyler earned his BA in Political Science with majors in French and English from Penn State University. He speaks German as well as French. At the university, he played rugby as a member of a college team.

Gordon lost $12,000 of his leading score to the round which placed him first on the ranks. Tyler also missed out on answering correctly for the Final Jeopardy round, which Gordon was able to succeed in.
