'Astounding' Taylor Deneen named 'The Voice's 'Best Soul Singer' by John Legend

UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Deneen chose John Legend as her coach on the October 16 episode of 'The Voice' Season 24. "I found the best soul singer of the entire blinds," John went on to say about his final pick.

When teams on 'The Voice' start filling up, coaches must be selective. In the worst-case scenario, a fantastic talent will execute their Blind Audition, and a Coach with a full roster will be unable to recruit them to their squad. When Taylor performed, this happened to two of the Coaches.

When the 23-year-old Oklahoma City resident sang Childish Gambino's "Redbone," John smacked his button nearly instantaneously, and Gwen Stefani quickly followed.

"My team is full up, and I'm so sad because that is one hell of a voice," Niall Horan revealed.

"I would have turned around in a heartbeat; your voice is incredible, your range is astounding," said Reba McEntire, who was also happy to see another Okie on 'The Voice'.

Taylor's Blind Audition greatly moved John.

"I am stunned right now. That was incredible," he remarked. "You just kept getting better and better and better, you kept finding new places to go."

Taylor eventually chose Team Legend.

"Boy, was I glad I didn’t fill up my team before Taylor arrived because I found the best soul singer of the entire Blinds," John stated with a grin on his face.

Following that, the 2017 Carl Albert High School graduate and National YoungArts Winner competed in honor bands, choruses, and festivals around Oklahoma and the United States.

At a recording studio in Spencer, Oklahoma, Taylor learned how to record her own vocals and instrumental tracks, and by the time she was sixteen, she was completely producing her own original songs.
