Eva Pilgrim, Rebecca Jarvis, and Whit Johnson filled in for the main hosts on 'GMA' on Wednesday, August 9

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Within one week, all three leading hosts - Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan have gone missing from ’Good Morning America’ for the second time. Fans were once again baffled on Wednesday, August 9 as the three main hosts were nowhere to be seen in the morning.

‘GMA’ fans were surprised to see three different faces behind the studio desk on a weekday, which is usually dedicatedly taken over by Robin, George, and Michael. This came after all three of them missed the show on Friday, August 4, as well.

Although it might not be highly unusual for all three to miss the show together, questions are always raised about their collective absence.

Why were Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan missing from ‘GMA’?

The three leading anchors of ‘GMA’ were not at their spots at the studio desk. Instead, Eva Pilgrim, Rebecca Jarvis, and Whit Johnson all filled in for the main hosts.

Michael has been out since Friday, with Rebecca replacing him every day. However, Robin and George were present the rest of the week and anchored the show with Rebecca in the absence of the former NFL star.

Till now, no clear reason has been detailed or brought forth for their absences and the social media profiles of the three leading hosts do not offer much for the fans. However, Michael has been posting on social media amid his absence but has not detailed any reason for why he is missing. Also, there is no word on when the main hosts will be back.

Apart from August 4, Robin and Michael were also missing on July 28 and were replaced by Rebecca and ‘Today’ star Al Roker's wife, Deborah Roberts.

To the surprise of many, Michael Strahan did return from his mysterious absence on Wednesday morning to host a special segment on the morning show.

Why did Michael Strahan make a surprise return to ‘GMA’?

After being missing from the studio on Wednesday, August 9, the 51-year-old ‘GMA’ host appeared suddenly to contribute to a special segment about hip-hop and mental health.

In honor of Hip-Hop’s upcoming 50th anniversary, ‘GMA’ dedicated a portion of the show to spotlighting rap activist Archie Green. Archie is a mental health advocate and founder of Peel Dem Layers Back.

Peel Dem Layers Back is an organization that utilizes hip-hop to help individuals in Black and Brown communities better their emotional well-being. The 51-year-old ‘GMA’ host narrated the segment, explaining that the core reason that Archie initiated the non-profit operation was so that mental health could be "destigmatized for Black and Brown people.”

Michael’s abrupt return to ‘GMA’ was welcomed by fans but the former NFL star remained mum about his and his co-stars' absence on the show.
