Tom Cruise's message for the King and the MTV awards were virtually identical
Tom Cruise was up in the skies for his coronation concert cameo, which looked awfully similar to his MTV Movie & TV award acceptance speech. While airborne and flying his Top Gun Warbird plane, the 60-year-old 'Top Gun' actor invited King Charles III to be his "wingman," in his pre-recorded video message for the new monarch. “Pilot to pilot. Your Majesty, you can be my wingman any time," Cruise said before he saluted and flew off. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter His message to King Charles was part of a number of star-studded video messages for the Coronation Concert, who included: Joan Collins, former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan, Bear Grylls and Welsh singer Tom Jones. It looked remarkably similar to a video acceptance speech Cruise gave from the cockpit for the MTV Movie & TV Awards, where the actor sported the same cream-blue shirt, aviator sunglasses, green headphones and a headset. Though in this message there was the addition of a golden popcorn trophy as Cruise took home the best performance in a movie for his role in 'Top Gun: Maverick'. "Hi everyone. Thank you so much for this award. I make these sails for you. I love you. I love entertaining you," he said. "You know how much you enjoy it. How much you appreciate it. There's just no better feeling and I hope you enjoy 'Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One.' Cruise added the film will be released in July and that it's a "wild ride," and signed off by saying "We'll see you at the movies" before tilting off and flying for the clouds. Kate continues masterclass in red, white and blue dressing with casual blouse
The Princess of Wales continued the theme of red, white and blue for the coronation weekend with a sky-coloured blouse on bank holiday Monday. Kate looked the epitome of country chic in a loose-fitting, long-sleeved blue top and casual dark khaki skinny jeans during a volunteering day for the Big Help Out. Alongside the Prince of Wales and their three children, the 41-year-old helped to renovate and improve the 3rd Upton Scouts Hut in Slough. The princess made sure she was dressed practically for the occasion with flat Chelsea boots. She wore her long brown hair in a relaxed style and ensured Louis’s outfit co-ordinated perfectly, with the five-year-old in a pale blue polo shirt and shorts. Kate wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty either and could be seen digging a patch of dirt and picking up a wheelbarrow full of sand before trying her hand at archery. The royals also helped reset a path, revarnished a door, and contributed to a mural on the front of a building. Prince Louis even got to operate a digger with his dad. Kate’s outfit choice ends a spectacular weekend of fashion choices for the royal. She recycled a sleek red suit to Sunday’s Coronation Concert – an Alexander McQueen outfit she previously wore for a Shaping Us event last January. It had an unusual asymmetric, wrap blazer, which she wore with a silver necklace by Van Cleef & Arpels. Earlier on Sunday, Kate had chosen a £298 pale blue linen blazer by Reiss and black trousers to meet royal fans at a Big Lunch gathering in Windsor. For the coronation ceremony itself, Kate wore a deep blue Royal Victorian Order mantle edged in scarlet, over an Alexander McQueen embroidered ivory silk crepe dress. Breaking from tradition, she chose not to wear a tiara, instead topping her outfit with a silver headpiece by Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen. In a touching tribute to William’s late mother, Kate wore pearl and diamond earrings that had belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales. Gen Z singletons are ditching alcohol and moving towards 'sober dating'
"Let's grab a drink" is a far too familiar phrase for avid daters – but now, a cultural shift has emerged geared towards more mindful dating. Enter sober dating. With more and more people making conscious decisions towards mindfulness, there's no surprise that the movement has racked up almost 5 million views across TikTok. A specialist team at Private Rehab Clinic, Delamere, has witnessed the latest trend and believes it to be a "more positive approach" to alcohol consumption and changing drinking behaviour. "We live in a society where binge drinking is part of everyday life and has a lot of influence over our culture and how individuals socialise, especially when dating," Martin Preston said. "This way of living is inspiring the ‘sober curious movement’ and the latest trend of ‘sober dating’, which is about thinking more consciously about consuming alcohol and our drinking habits." According to their research, 60 per cent of people post-pandemic reduced their intake to improve their health and well being. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter It is predominantly Gen Z driving the new sober dating trend by seeking alternative booze-free ways to socialise. "We’re also seeing a rise in the number of alcohol-free dating apps, which allow those in recovery or simply those exploring their relationship with alcohol to find love," Martin added. "This dating trend has many benefits, from feeling more safe and secure when meeting strangers to getting to know an individual's real personality instead of their drunk personality, to feeling more clear-headed and having an emotional connection." The clinic advises people wanting to try it to join sober dating apps to connect with people with the same mindset. They also believe daytime dates take the pressure of alcohol away, including walks, a show or a creative activity such as pottery painting. Have your say in our news democracy.
