Hollywood star Jamie Foxx has received numerous messages of support after reports that his family is “preparing for the worst” after he suffered a medical emergency. The 55-year-old actor has been hospitalised for the last four weeks after reportedly suffering an unspecified “serious medical emergency”. He remains “under observation” at a medical facility in Georgia. No explanation or cause of the medical complication has been given, but Foxx’s daughter Corinne Foxx broke the news on Instagram on 12 April that her father was unwell. In a since-deleted post on Instagram, she wrote: “We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. The family asks for privacy during this time. Much love, The Foxx Family.” On 3 May, for the first time since his medical emergency, a post was shared on Foxx’s own Instagram account. Feeling blessed.” The post has been liked almost 800,000 times and received thousands of comments from celebrity friends, fans and other well-wishers. Actress Halle Berry commented: “Love you, Jamie.” Singer John Legend also responded to the post with a series of prayer hand emojis. Actor Mahershala Ali also posted some supportive emojis. YouTuber MrBeast has responded to the backlash after reports that he has bought almost all the houses on one street for his staff and family to live in. Earlier this month, it was reported that MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, had purchased multiple homes on one street in a cul de sac in North Carolina, close to where he grew up. In response to the news, MrBeast has been on the receiving end of some backlash as some accuse him of being a “culty”. One person tweeted, “That sounds very culty lol”. Someone else argued, “The next Jonestown will happen here”. Another pointed out: “Imagine losing your job and your house on the same day. That’s what company towns are. Your employer owns every aspect of your life.” “What a nice man, surely a CEO buying homes and creating neighborhoods for their employee's families has no historical relevance or background at all,” someone else said. ‘Use sunscreen every day’ is the ultimate skincare commandment. Dermatologists and beauty buffs alike agree that protecting your face from harmful UV rays – while simultaneously preventing wrinkles – should be a priority for everyone. “Skin is the body’s first line of defence from everyday external aggressors which damage your skin such as UV rays,” says Prof Christian Aldridge, consultant dermatologist for LifeJacket Skin Protection. “The damage from these can have cosmetic, physical and long-term health consequences. At best, it can age your skin and cause you discomfort but at worst, can give you a skin disease you really don’t want.” That’s why daily protection of your skin is critical, particularly on those areas that are exposed to the sun regularly, such as your face. But in spite of all the warnings we receive, the message isn’t getting through to everyone. A new survey from LifeJacket and Melanoma UK found that 10% of respondents rarely use SPF, while one in 20 says they never use it. To make it more likely you’ll stick to a daily habit, finding a product you love can be a huge help – attempting to rub a thick, chalky cream into your skin is not the answer. The good news is, facial sunblocks have come a long way, and there’s a whole new batch of lightweight but effective lotions, serums and gels that are a delight to use – and many of them are under the £20 mark. “To adequately protect your face, I recommend 5ml (about a teaspoon) of SPF of at least 30 every day,” says Aldridge. “Especially during the months of April to September, to ensure long-term skin protection.
