'He's been in rehab for a couple of times and he still has come back out and relapsed,' said Nene Leakes

LAWRENCEVILLE, GEORGIA: Nene Leakes' son was arrested a couple of weeks ago in connection with drug possession. As per media reports, Bryson Bryant was found with Fentanyl, a Schedule II-controlled substance. Moreover, he had been charged with ‘loitering/prowling,’ giving a fake name, address, and birthdate.

Bryant's bio on social media reads, “Producer/Actor/Manager/CEO of Wreklez ent. I am @NENELEAKES son and #Bravos #BadBoy.” He is also a father to his daughter Bri’Asia. The beloved little girl is often spotted on social media as her grandmother NeNe often shares pictures with her on her Instagram.

What did NeNe Leakes say about her son Bryson Bryant's arrest?

NeNe Leakes, in a conversation with former ‘RHOA’ producer and friend Carlos King, talked about his son, "I spoke to him on the phone, I think he's doing OK." Bryant is still in custody at Gwinnett County Jail on a $6,100 bond since his arrest on July 3 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The TV personality admitted that he is deep in drug addiction, "He needs rehabilitation. He needs a lot of counseling. Like many families out there, I have family members that are struggling with drugs and certain addictions. He has an addiction. He's been struggling with it for years. He's been in rehab for a couple of times and he still has come back out and relapsed."

Trying not to be too hard on herself, the mother explained that with time she had understood that she only has a limited role, "As a mom just to watch it, my hands are tied. [There's] not much that I can do. For people who have had children or family members that have been on drugs, they know that they have to be ready. They have to simply be ready," reports People.

'I'm just really kind of numb to the situation'

The 55-year-old actress further explains, "I’ve spent so much money on trying to get Bryson where he needs to be. But every time I've sent him off is because I said, ‘You are getting your ass up and we are sending you off.’ But I learned through counseling myself that he has to say, ‘I’m ready to go,’ not me making him go. So until Bryson is ready to make a change, [there’s] nothing I [can] do."

She further added that she doesn’t feel anything as Bryant’s situation escalates, “He is [33] years old, he’s an adult. He has three children — three beautiful children — who I adore. He has a wife. As a mother, I would never wash my hands of my child, right? But, I'm kind of numb to it because it's been happening for so many years. I'm just really kind of numb to the situation."
